Definitions of the group stage in the SCA of Clubs

The third day was a day of definitions of the group stage in the SCA of Clubs. The teams were playing for the qualification to the quarterfinals and the first place in the standings.

SUMMARY OF THE DAY’S COMPETITION:
FMO/Portuguese vs Jockey Club (26-24)

The FMO/Portuguese team and Jockey Club Cordoba were the first to take the field. A first half with both teams’ defenses well set, which caused the teams to go to the halftime break even 11-11.

In the second half, the team led by Cristiano Rocha managed to open up their game and improve their attack, and the team from Recife won 26-24.

Raquel Ladeia was elected the MVP of the match and together with Jamily Feliz scored 6 goals each, Irina Olmos scored 7 goals for Jockey.

FMO/Portuguese scored 2 points and remained in first place with 4 points in the group C standings.

River Plate vs Layva (15-22)

The Uruguayan team clearly dominated the first half of the match.

River’s offensive mistakes and the good performance of goalkeeper Agustina Mordenell, allowed Layva to score 10 goals and go to the break 15-6.

In the second half, the team coached by Pablo Sznitowski improved their performance, but the difference marked at the beginning of the game made the comeback impossible.

In the end, Layva won 15-22 and took first place in group A with 4 points. Paula Eastman was the MVP and scorer of the game with 7 goals.

Pinheiros vs Sedalo (23-25)

Sedalo’s defeat in the third match of the day. The girls coached by Fernando Garcia, knew how to take advantage of the mistakes in the Brazilian attack. Closing the first half 12-10.

In the second half, Pinheiros put up a fight and managed to take the game goal by goal. On the other hand, Sedalo, with the help of Karin Frelier, managed to take off at the end of the game and win 23-25.

Sedalo not only won first place in group D, but also knocked out the undefeated Brazilian team Pinheiros, which had not suffered a defeat in its presentations in the South Central region.

The scorer of the game was Karin Frelier with 7 goals and Mirando Kruk was elected the MVP of the game.

Ovalle vs Dorrego (29-31)

At the end of the day at the Parque Deportivo Estadio Nacional, Ovalle and Dorrego competed for the lead in Group B.

The beginning of the game was a complicated offensive game for both teams. However, Dorrego was able to take advantage of the defensive errors of its rival and went to the locker room 15-16 with the minimum goal difference.

In the second half there was absolute parity until Dorrego was able to settle better in defense and from there build positional attacks.

The Argentine team defeated Ovalle 31-29. Celeste Garibaldi and Lucía Kicker scored 6 goals, while the game’s top scorer was Ovalle’s Consuelo Liana with 7 goals.

Programming

This Wednesday, May 14, there will be 6 matches in play. From 10:00 a.m. Leonas vs Torrense for the Copa Presidente; at 12:00 Cerro Porteño vs Scuola Italiana.

From 14:00 Layva vs Ovalle for the quarterfinals, Dorrego vs River Plate at 16:00. FMO/Portuguese will play against their Brazilian counterpart, Pinheiros at 6:00 p.m. and Sedalo vs Jockey Club Cordoba will close the day.
