Comebacks and agonizing definitions marked the closing of the SCA Clubs 2025. Here is the summary of an electrifying day that closed with matches decided in the last seconds, unexpected heroes under the goalposts, and teams that left everything.

Partille Club vs Colegio Alemán (16-33)

Colegio Alemán of Uruguay demonstrated its tactical and technical superiority by defeating Partille Club of Peru with a resounding 33-16. From the start, the Uruguayan team imposed a high pace of play, reflecting its dominance at both ends of the court. The first half ended 18-9 in favor of Colegio Alemán.

In the second half, Colegio Alemán maintained its intensity, taking advantage of Partille Club’s unforced errors and capitalizing on every counterattacking opportunity.

Bautista Tondini was the top scorer of the game with 8 goals, showing great effectiveness in his shots and a precise reading of the game.

For his part, goalkeeper Gerónimo Revetria was fundamental in the victory, making multiple key saves that earned him the MVP of the match.

With this result, Colegio Alemán obtained the 15th place in the SCA Clubs 2025.

Ovalle vs MET (34-35)

In a vibrant Chilean duel for the 13th place of the SCA Clubs 2025, MET overcame Ovalle by a tight 35-34, in a match that was defined in the last seconds. Ovalle dominated the first half with a fluid offensive game, taking advantage of penetrations through the center and second line shots, which allowed them to go to the break with a 21-19 advantage.

In the second half, MET adjusted their defense, allowing them to recover key balls and generate effective counterattacks. Maximiliano Cabrera was the outstanding player of the game, scoring 10 goals.

The final stretch of the match was highly tense, with both teams exchanging goals and leads on the scoreboard.

However, MET was able to capitalize on an Ovalle turnover in the final seconds, scoring the decisive goal that gave them the victory and 13th place in the tournament.

Kutral vs Pilar (26-28)

In the 11th place match of the SCA Clubs 2025, Pilar of Paraguay staged a memorable comeback against Kutral of Chile, winning 28-26 after going into halftime with a 17-7 deficit.

In the first half, Kutral imposed a vertiginous rhythm, supported by a compact 6:0 defense and fast transitions that disarticulated the Paraguayan team.

However, in the second half, Pilar adjusted with a more aggressive defense, recovered key balls and took advantage of the physical exhaustion of its rival.

Christian Heredia was decisive, leading the offense with 8 goals and being elected MVP of the match for his vision and effectiveness in outside shots. With this result, the Paraguayan team obtained 11th place in the tournament.

Liceo Nacional Maipú vs Universitario (32-30)

In an electrifying match for the ninth place of the SCA Clubs 2025, Liceo Nacional de Maipú achieved an agonizing victory over Universitario de Córdoba by 32-30, after a 7-meter shootout.

The first half was favorable for Universitario, which went to the break with a 14-12 lead. In the second half, Liceo Nacional adjusted their attacking strategy, implementing crosses and openings that destabilized the Argentinean team’s defense.

Despite being behind in the final minutes, the Chileans showed resilience and, with precise ball circulation, managed to tie the game in the last seconds, bringing the score to 28-28 and forcing a 7-meter shootout.

In the penalty shootout, Liceo Nacional was more accurate, winning 4-2, amidst the euphoria of the home crowd.

Aaron Codina was the outstanding figure of the game, scoring 10 goals and being elected MVP.

USAB vs San Fernando (31-32)

In an intense duel for 7th place in the SCA Clubs 2025, San Fernando of Argentina defeated USAB of Chile 32-31 after a 7-meter shootout.

The match was even from the start: USAB went to the break up 14-13 thanks to its good offensive circulation and changes of rhythm in positional play.

In the second half, the match went goal for goal, with defenses alternating between 6:0 and 5:1 to contain the opponent’s offense. With two minutes left, San Fernando was leading by two, but the Chileans managed to equalize the score with an effective play towards the ends, provoking a foul that resulted in a penalty kick converted on the stroke of goal.

San Fernando was more accurate from 7 meters and took the victory. Despite the defeat, USAB goalkeeper Vicente Elola was elected MVP for his many key interventions.

National vs Ward College (37-28)

In the match for the 5th place of the SCA Clubs 2025, Nacional of Brazil overcame Ward School of Argentina with a score of 37-28, in a match that stood out for the tactical intensity and offensive efficiency of the Brazilian team.

During the first half, Nacional’s solid defense made it difficult for Ward College to penetrate and forced errors in ball circulation. In spite of this, the Argentine team managed to stay close on the scoreboard, ending the first half with a minimum disadvantage of 16-15.

In the second half, Nacional adjusted its offensive strategy, taking advantage of quick transitions and spaces in the rival defense. Lucas Mineiro was the outstanding figure of the match, scoring 9 goals and being elected MVP of the game.

Dorrego vs FMO/Portuguese (22-35)

In the third place match of the SCA Clubs 2025, FMO/Portuguese of Brazil defeated Dorrego of Argentina with a score of 35-22, securing the bronze medal in the tournament.

From the start, the Brazilian team showed tactical and physical superiority, establishing a defense that limited Dorrego’s offensive options. In attack, FMO/Portuguese played a dynamic game, with quick transitions and effective ball circulation, which allowed them to go to halftime with a 19-12 advantage.

In the second half, FMO/Portuguese maintained its intensity, taking advantage of Dorrego’s unforced errors and widening the difference on the scoreboard. Joel Santos was the outstanding figure of the game, scoring 8 goals and being elected MVP.

Taubaté vs Pinheiros (22-20)

In a thrilling final of the Handball 2025 Libertadores, Taubaté revalidated its title by beating Pinheiros 22-20, consolidating its position as two-time continental champion.

From the first minutes, Taubaté imposed its rhythm, taking the lead with minimal advantages.

In the second half, both teams intensified their defenses. Taubaté opted for a compact 6:0 defense, while Pinheiros alternated between 5:1 and 6:0, seeking to intercept passing lanes and force mistakes.

In the final moments, Pinheiros managed to close the gap and came within two goals of the equalizer, but it was not enough against Taubaté’s solid defense.

It was Eduardo Silva who sealed the match with a key goal that reaffirmed the championship. This victory not only consolidates Taubate as the best team in the continent, but also guarantees them a place in the next IHF Club World Cup.

The star of the match was goalkeeper Lucas Santos, who won the MVP of the match.

In addition, individual awards were presented to the best players of the Libertadores del Handball 2025.
