In the first match of the World Cup, Chile lost 31-22 to Spain. Esteban Salinas and Erwin Feuchtmann stood out with 5 goals each. one against the Spaniards. In the last match of the preliminary round, the team coached by Aitor Etxaburu overcame Japan 31-26 and achieved their goal of advancing to the next stage of the world competition. The Japanese are Asian champions and had a good Olympic Games, but Chile was superior both in the first half and in the second with partials 14-11 and 17-15. Again Erwin Feutchamnn was the top scorer with 9 goals scored and the MVP of the match.. With this result he added 2 points and got into the next round.
Second round
The Chilean national team is part of Group III, where it will face Brazil next Wednesday, January 22 at 11:30 am.
