Argentina with a renewed squad will seek to be at the top of the ranking in the 29th edition of the Men’s Handball Championship to be played in Croatia/Denmark/Norway 2025.
The team coached by Pucho Jung, toured Europe, before Christmas they left to the Spanish Ciudad Real to concentrate. After playing two Test Matches with Qatar in the city of Doha, they disputed from January 8 to 11 the traditional TIE, International Tournament of Spain in the city of Valenciana.
Renewal and change
The Argentine national team, with a renewed squad and a coaching staff that will make its debut at world level in the category, is part of Group H with Egypt, Croatia and Bahrain. Three of the teams have already faced each other in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (Argentina, Croatia and Egypt), but few of these players were part of the Olympic Games. With an average age of 25 years, Argentina will seek to gain experience in the competition.
Confirmed list for the World Cup
Leonel Maciel, Santiago Giovagnola goalkeepers; Pedro Martínez, Facundo Cangiani, Ramiro Martínez, Ramiro Benacedo, wingers. Lucas Aizen, Santiago Barceló, Tomás Cañete, Juan Gull and Juan Saco as wingers; Martín Jung and Nicolás Bono as center backs; Lucas Moscariello, Guillermo Fischer and Pablo Minguez as pivots.
Coaching staff: Rodolfo Jung coach, Cristian Campos assistant, Sebastián Larlus physical trainer, Federico González kinesiologist and Fernando Taboadela doctor.
Headquarters
The venues for this new edition of the World Cup are the cities of Herning, Oslo, Zagreb, Varazdin and Poreč. Brazil and Chile will play their games in Oslo, Norway at the Unity Arena. While the Argentineans will play in the city of Zagreb, Croatia at the Arena Zagreb.
Argentina will start the preliminary round on Wednesday, January 15 against Egypt at 2:00 pm. On Thursday they will face Croatia at 4:30 p.m. and close the phase on Sunday, January 19 against Bahrain at 2:00 p.m. (Argentina time).
History
It should be noted that Argentina’s national team has been participating in World Cups since 1997, its best result was obtained in Egypt 2021 when it finished 11th.
