Argentina lost to Slovenia 34-23 at the start of the Main Round of the Men’s Handball World Cup being held in Croatia, Denmark and Norway 2025.
The Gladiators debuted with a defeat in the first date of the second round of Group IV. Slovenia was superior and won at the Arena Zagreb in the Croatian capital.
With little taste
From the beginning of the match, the Argentineans showed an intense rhythm of play that they could not sustain. The first half closed with a 15-8 partial in favor of the Slovenians.

In the second half, Rodolfo Jung’s team showed an improvement in attack and defense but it was not enough after several mistakes and turnovers. Argentina lost 23-34 to Slovenia.
Ramiro Martínez and Juan Gull were the top scorers for the Albiceleste with 4 goals each.
With this result, the Argentineans have no mathematical chance of reaching the quarterfinals of the World Cup.
The Gladiators will now aim to improve on their 19th place finish in the 2023 championship.
