Argentina’s national team made it to the next round. The team coached by Rodolfo Jung managed to advance to the Main Round of the World Cup being played in Croatia, Denmark and Norway.
The Albiceleste achieved its first goal, which was to advance to the next stage of the tournament, after beating Bahrain with an almost perfect game, the Argentine team will seek to make the upset and reach the quarterfinals.
Argentina moves forward
The young squad with an average age of 26 lost its first two games. The powerful team from Egypt defeated Argentina 39-25then it was the turn of Croatia Croatia, who beat the Albiceleste 33-18. It should be noted that Lucas Moscariello of Argentina scored 7 goals against the Egyptians. With Croatia, Rodolfo Jung’s team was losing clarity in attack, in the second half they were more competitive and became stronger in defense but it was not enough. Pedro Martinez scored 2 goals and Ramiro Benacedo stood out with 3 goals.
In the closing of the preliminary phase, Argentina beat Bahrain at the Arena Zagreb of the Croatian capital. The Albiceleste had an outstanding performance, with an almost perfect game, dominating the match for about 40 minutes. In the last minutes of the game, goalkeeper Leonel Maciel stopped key balls and Martin Jung did not hesitate after a fast start to score the goal that gave the qualification. The top scorer was Ramiro Martínez with 10 goals and was elected the MVP of the match. Argentina won by the minimum difference 26-25.
Second round
Argentina managed to add 2 units and was placed in the third position of Group H, after the victory against Bahrain. The Albiceleste team is part of Group IV in the Main Round, next Wednesday January 22 will play against Slovenia at the Arena Zagreb, on Friday it will face Cape Verde and on Sunday January 26 it will close against Iceland. All the matches will be played at 11.30 a.m. Argentine time. The squad will count with the incorporation of the player Gastón Mouriño in replacement of the injured Lucas Moscariello.
