First day completed in the Beach Handball SCA U17, Iquique 2024. The Cavancha arena lived a real party. In the afternoon there were games, a show and the opening ceremony with the presence of authorities, athletes and the public present.
We share with you a summary of the championship matches of the afternoon shift:
Paraguay vs Brazil (female)
In the afternoon, the Brazilian team won 2-0. Without too many difficulties the Brazilian team overcame Paraguay in both sets 15:24 and 17:28.
Peru vs Brazil (men)
In the men’s division, Brazil scored its second 2-0 victory over Peru. The team coached by José Cardozo Júnior won both sets 24:9 and 16:9.
Paraguay vs Argentina (men)
In the third match, the Argentinean team led by Andres Bueno defeated Paraguay 2-0. The Albiceleste managed to beat their Guarani counterparts in both sets 23:6 and 28:10.
Chile vs Argentina (female)
The locals were unable to overcome their Argentinean counterparts, the team coached by Celeste Meccia beat Chile 2-0.
In an Arena Cavancha with a great number of spectators cheering for the Chilean team, the Argentines won both sets 16:10 and 17:10.
Chile vs Uruguay (men)
In the last match of the day, Uruguay beat Chile 2-1. The first set was won by the Chileans 17:15, the second set was won by Uruguay 24:16 which resulted in a 1-1 tie.
In the shot out, the victory was Uruguayan by 10:8, thus the Celeste won.
Opening Ceremony
The SCA U17 Beach Handball Championship had its opening ceremony at the Cavancha Arena. It was attended by the participating delegations: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Paraguay and Uruguay.
In addition, the following authorities were present: Mayor Mauricio Soria Macchiavello, councilors, the president of COSCABAL, Marcel Mancilla, the Brazilian player and Beach Handball ambassador, Patricia Scheppa, the public and the media.
