Romina Ramírez left winger of the Chilean national team, is part of the team called up by Osvaldo Menéndez. The Chileans will be competing in the SCA Senior Women’s Handball Championship to be played from November 26 in Niteroi.
Having recovered from an injury that kept her away from the field for a few months, Ramírez is part of the list of players that will be in the South Central.
Preparation and return
“I am currently playing a university national in Chile with some of my national teammates, next week we will join the others for the preparatory tour we have in Brazil.”
How are you physically?
- I feel good physically for this tournament, 5 months ago I came back after an injury that kept me out for a while.
In addition, Ramírez says that her recovery has been a challenging process, but that the training has helped her come back stronger.
How is the rest of the team?
- As a team we feel prepared to face what is coming, we know it will be a strong and demanding tournament but we expect to perform well.

What does it mean to be called up and wear the colors of your national team?
- It is a pride to wear the colors of Chile, it is something we train for every day. We sacrifice a lot of things to give our best in every competition.
Do you consider that there has been an evolution in recent years with respect to the level of play of the Chilean national team?
- We have evolved, we have polished our game model and we have also added details that we hope will be seen when we compete.
Romina Ramírez, meanwhile, emphasizes that it has been a year with good results for the teams that have been competing in world championships.

Finally, with respect to the South Central, she assured that their expectation is to contribute on and off the field and not hold anything back when it comes to competing. In summary, she said that as a team they are aligned to the main objective, which is to qualify for the World Cup in Germany/Netherlands 2025.
