Marisol Carratú, a goalkeeper with a lot of grit, is one of the experienced goalkeepers of the Argentine national team, and is part of the list of players called to play in the SCA Senior Women’s Handball Championship in Rio de Janeiro.
On November 26, the competition that will put at stake places for the World Cup will begin and six teams will be selected to go in search of a place in the World Cup.
The Claw
Argentina is one of the favorites that will go in search of the world ticket and also the South Central title, with a renewed coaching staff.
How has it been adapting to the new style of play that the coach, Mariano Muñoz, is looking for?
- The truth is that it has been happening with a lot of illusion but above all with a lot of work. We are aware that we are making a transition. The new coaching staff is showing us their commitment and above all their desire for Argentina to grow. So, it generates hope in each of the players who are privileged to be part of this new process.
In addition, Marisol Carratú assured that one of the keys to go through this transition is patience, and to work with a lot of commitment and responsibility.
The South Center to be held in Niterói, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, will have places for the next World Cup in Germany/Netherlands 2025. What are your expectations?
- The expectations for this tournament are to be able to implement the new game model that the coaching staff is transmitting to us and with the new identity that we are creating, to be able to achieve the primary objective of qualifying for the World Cup.With the new identity that we are creating, we will be able to achieve our main objective, which is to qualify for the World Cup.God willing, if we qualify, it will mean that we are on the right path to ‘believe’ that we can aspire to more.
Touring and concentration
The squad has carried out training camps, has intensified physical, tactical and technical work and has toured Europe, more precisely in the Valencian Community, with the addition of friendly matches. In general, how is the squad?
- The staff is very excited but above all very committed. The generational change is being noticed. The younger ones help the older ones to renew their energies and the older ones transmit their experience to them. We are looking for that balance to be reflected on the field and to show that Argentina wants to continue growing.
Marisol Carratú, currently defends the goal for the Elche team in Spain. With an extensive career and for several years an undisputed defender of the Argentinean goal, she will be present at the Senior Championship in Rio de Janeiro.
The Argentine national team will have a final training camp from November 17 to 24 in Spain’s Ciudad Real prior to the South Central tournament.
The SCA Senior Women’s Handball Championship will be played from November 26 to 30 in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro.
