Brazil is champion of the Senior Women’s SCA!

Brazil is champion of the SCA Senior Women! Under a packed CT Niteroi Stadium, Brazil and Argentina played a match full of emotions in the last match of the SCA Senior Women’s Handball Niteroi 2024. The locals were crowned champions after beating “La Garra” 31-22.

Brazil sets the pace in the first half

Both teams were undefeated, with perfect campaigns that guaranteed their qualification to the World Cup in Germany/Netherlands 2025, but only one could win the tournament.

The beginning of the match was marked by inaccuracies of the team coached by Mariano Muñoz. However, the Albiceleste managed to recover quickly thanks to the outstanding offensive performance of Malena Cavo, who led the attacks with determination.

Despite this, Brazil demonstrated its defensive solidity, led by Gabriela Moreschi, a key figure in the first half with 10 key saves.

With an effectiveness of 68%, the locals took advantage of the opportunities that arose from opportunities that arose from Moreschi’s saves, transforming them into quick counterattacks that dismantled the Argentine defense, which only achieved 26% effectiveness in this stretch.

This imbalance was reflected at the end of the first half, when Brazil achieved its best difference in the scoreboard and closed the quarter 17-11.

Brazil consolidates its dominance and secures the title

In the second half, Brazil reaffirmed its dominance. Argentina’s turnovers were immediately capitalized by the locals, who quickly extended the lead with a fast and errorless game.

Although Argentina tried adjusting its defense and building slower attacks, the pace imposed by Brazil was too high.

Every recovery attempt by La Garra was neutralized by a deadly counterattack by the Brazilians..

In the last five minutes, Argentine goalkeeper Ayelén Rosalez did her best to prevent the opponent’s lead from getting even bigger.

However, the defensive effort was not enough for Argentina to significantly reduce the gap on the scoreboard.

The Brazilian team won 31-22, proclaiming itself champion of the Senior Women’s SCA, making clear its hierarchy in the region.

The MVP of the match was Marcela Arounian of Brazil.
