Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay seal their pass to the World Cup Egypt 2025. At the closing of the Trophy + Handball SCA U18, the Polideportivo Alexis Argüello witnessed exciting matches that defined the championship podium.
The following is a summary of the highlights of the last day:
Guatemala vs Colombia
The final matchday began with the confrontation between Guatemala and Colombiaboth teams were looking for their first victory of the tournament.
Guatemala started off strong, establishing an early 4-0 lead, maintaining the lead for most of the match.
However, Colombia, determined to turn the result around, managed to come back in the last ten minutes and went into the break up 16-13.
In the second half, the Colombians imposed their style of play with quick transitions and solid ball steals, controlling the pace of the game.
Despite the Guatemalan efforts, Colombia won by 31-23. 31-23. Martin Montoya scored 5 goals, while Andersson Lemus of Guatemala was the top scorer with 8 goals.
Nicaragua vs Paraguay
In the second match of the day, the Trophy title was at stake, Nicaragua vs Paraguay played a close match from start to finish.
Paraguay opened the scoreboard and began to take advantage, dominating the game for most of the first half, but Nicaragua showed resilience, coming close on several occasions and tying the score 16-16 before halftime.
In the second half, Nicaraguan goalkeeper William López made outstanding saves.The team led by Augusto Paz showed their offensive determination and consolidated their 36-33 victory.
Oscar Lopez shined and was the top scorer of the match with 11 goals, while Jose Barrios led the Paraguayan offense with 8 goals.while José Barrios led the Paraguayan offense with 8 goals.
The Nicaragua national team was crowned champion of the IHF Trophy Continental South Central America.

Third place
In a back-and-forth match, Chile and Uruguay played a tremendous game that defined the last place for the Egypt 2025 World Cup.
Chile went to halftime leading by two goals 14-12. In the second half, Uruguay took advantage of the Chilean team’s mistakes and made quick counterattacks.
The Uruguayans surprised their opponents with long distance shots and secured a key advantage. Up by three goals with three minutes to go, Uruguay held on to win 24-23, taking the bronze and the pass to the World Cup in Egypt 2025.
The top scorers for Uruguay with 4 goals each were: Franco Carpinelli, Matías González Mateo Soria and Francisco Castro.. In Chile, Fernando Castillo was the top scorer with 8 goals.
Brazil Champion
There was much anticipation for the final match between Argentina vs. Argentina vs Brazil and it was fulfilled. It was a very even match from the start.
Brazil took a 3-0 lead, Argentina only managed to score after the first five minutes of play. During the first half, the Brazilians imposed their rhythm with constructed plays and gaining possession of the ball. The advantage was minimal 6-7 for Brazil.
In the second half, Argentina improved, taking advantage of the goalkeeper’s quick exits to take the lead, but their opponent’s reaction was not long in coming.
In the final minutes, the Brazilians took control of the ball the Brazilians took control of the ball and managed to stretch the advantage to become champions. Brazil won 19-17.
George Siqueira was the scorer of the match with 7 goals, on the Argentine side, Bautista Torossian led the offense with 6 goals.
Positions and standings
Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay qualified for the next World Cup to be held in Egypt next year. In addition, Nicaragua won the South Central American Continental Trophy title.
