Argentina defeats Chile in the HSCA Senior and gets closer to the 2025 World Championship. With a tie at halftime and a comeback in the second half, the Argentines won 30-23 in a key match for the places to the Handball World Cup 2025.
Evenly matched and underdogs at halftime
The game started with an intense equality on the court. Both teams showed a high level of effectiveness, reaching 66% in their shots, although they made the same mistakes, missing six shots each. Chile’s goalkeeper, Madeleine Cortez had key interventions with four important saves, while Chile’s defense stood out with 25% effectiveness.

Argentina adjusts and takes the victory
Despite the solid Chilean performance in the first half, Argentina adjusted their game in the second half and began to find spaces in the defense of Las Lobas, which allowed them to take control of the match. The Chileans could not keep up the pace and the difference was widening.
The match ended with a 30-23 victory for Argentina.
Graciela García scored 6 goals for Argentina and Gabriela Müller was the top scorer with 8 goals. Macarena Sanz was chosen as the MVP of the match.

Catalina Galvez, player of the Chilean National Team:
“The match was difficult, Argentina has always been a strong opponent. It was a goal for goal match, at the end they got away from us a little bit. But I am very proud of the team, we gave 100% and more, we have gone from strength to strength in the tournament”.
