Argentina added a new victory in the Senior SCA with a 32-28 win over Uruguay. The Charrúas still could not score points and will have to win to stay in the race for the World Cup qualification.
The albiceleste was better
Uruguay with a 5-1 defense tried to complicate Argentina’s positional play, but Mariano Muñoz’s team was able to find the spaces and convert easily.
In attack, at times Uruguay implemented the double pivot to open spaces in the opponent’s defense.
But the Argentines with an outstanding performance of goalkeeper Marisol Carratú, who obtained a 52.63 of saves, complicated the Uruguayan game.
On the other hand, the team coached by Leonardo Puñales, had an erratic start in their offense and a great 8-minute slump without being able to convert.
Meanwhile, the effectiveness of the Uruguayans was better and allowed them to get closer on the scoreboard. Argentina went to the break leading 16-9.
Argentina’s triumph
In the second half, La Garra improved its defensive solidity and counted on the great performance of its other goalkeeper, Candelaria Cuadrado.
La Garra had some handling errors but still kept control of the game and never found itself at a disadvantage. Match ended 32-18 in favor of Argentina.
Scorers of the match were Macarena Sans and Micaela Casasola with 7 goals each. Latter was chosen as the best player of the match.

“Match was complicated, Argentina is a very tough opponent, yesterday Brazil was also complicated.
I think that from now on we can only add up. We came here with the objective of qualifying for the World Cup and I think we are on that path”.
Micaela Casasola, player of the Argentina National Team:
“It was a very complicated match at times, as we knew it would be. I think we were very tough on defense, in attack we were very neat and we did things well.
Match was defined by being tough on defense and being very effective.
