The duo
Cristian Lemes, Uruguayan referee dreamed of being in the Club World Cup, “It was a beautiful challenge, it was a tournament where I always wanted to participate and so I lived it as a dream come true…”. Besides, together with his partner Mathias Sosa, they already knew that they would only referee two matches, “… when the designation for the first match came out, we went out onto the field a little nervous.
It was our official debut in the Club World Cup, we struggled in the first few minutes, but we quickly found the rhythm we needed and gained confidence…”.
Lemes said it was a very important step for both of them (Sosa/Lemes). “…We like challenges. This helps us to set new goals and to continue to grow”.
Mathias Sosa, agrees that reaching the tournament was a goal to achieve. He also assured that it is a tough competition, very physical and with a very high level of play.
“Being in a high-level championship makes us aware that there is always something to improve, and the higher the level of play, the higher the demand at the time of refereeing”.
