Argentina and Paraguay Champions in the SCA U14 Handball!

The final day of the SCA U14 Handball that took place in Asunción from September 17 to 21 saw Paraguay A dominate in the women’s category and Argentina became champions in the men’s category. Here is a brief summary of the final day of Asunción 2024.

Uruguay vs Paraguay B male

In an exciting match, which opened the final day, Paraguay B achieved a narrow victory over Uruguay with a score of 30-28. Both teams were looking for their first victory and the first half ended with a two-goal advantage for Paraguay B.

The match was very close, with crucial saves by Paraguayan goalkeeper Maycol Rivarola in one-on-one situations. The final seconds arrived when José Báez stole the ball, avoiding the tie and securing the victory for Paraguay B, which is positioned in fifth place in the tournament, while Uruguay finishes in sixth place.

The scorer of the match was Thiago Gimenez of Paraguay B with 8 goals and for Uruguay Rodrigo Vidal was the top scorer with 6 goals.

Brazil vs Paraguay A female

In a thrilling match, Paraguay A defeated Brazil with a resounding 38 to 21. Liziana Devaca shone as the scorer of the match, scoring 11 goals, while Lais Mansur was Brazil’s best with 8. Despite already being champions of the tournament, the Paraguayans demonstrated their tactical supremacy, highlighting their solid defense, which hindered the Brazilian attack and generated quick counterattacks.

Their coordination in attack allowed them to take advantage of the spaces and consolidate their dominance on the scoreboard, reaffirming their quality in the competition. With this result, Brazil finished in fifth place in the tournament.

Argentina vs Chile female

The Albiceleste overcame Chile with a score of 25-22 in a hard-fought match that assured them the second place in the SCA U14 Women’s Handball Championship. The Albicelestes, led by Luana Piccinetti, started strongly, taking a 3-0 lead in the first minutes and closing the first half with a 16-8 advantage.

Although Chile, coached by Sebastián Caliri, adjusted their strategy in the second half and excelled in long-range shots, Argentina maintained control of the match despite showing less effectiveness in their shots towards the end. Despite Chile’s efforts, they were unable to close the gap sufficiently, and the match ended with an Argentine victory, securing their second place in the tournament and fifth place for Chile.

The top scorers of the match were Micaela Zangui and Luana Piccinetti of Argentina with 7 goals each. Catalina Valdes and Maria Stegmeier were the top scorers for Chile with 6 goals each.

Chile vs Argentina male

One of the most eagerly awaited matches of the day was Chile against Argentina. The two teams met in search of the tournament crown. In an exciting encounter, Argentina won with a score of 31 to 24 against the team coached by Nicolas Hernandez. At the end of the first half, the scoreboard showed a 19 to 10 advantage in favor of the Argentines.

The solid albiceleste defense pressured Chile, causing turnovers that allowed Argentina to execute effective counterattacks that ended in goals and stretch the advantage on the scoreboard. With this victory, Argentina is crowned champion of the SCA U14 Handball 2024, dethroning Chile, who came in third place in the 2024 edition.

The top scorer of the match was Gonzalo Perznianko of Argentina with 8 goals, on the Chilean side the top scorer was Tomas Arechavaleta with 6 goals.

Paraguay B vs Uruguay femenino

At the end of the day, it was the turn of Paraguay B, who faced Uruguay at the Olympic Training Center in Asuncion, in search of the bronze medal of the tournament. In a close match, Paraguay B took the victory over Uruguay with a score of 21-16. Soraya Gonzalez stood out as the scorer of the match, scoring 8 goals, while Isabella Leita added 5 for Uruguay.

The first half ended 10-6 in favor of Paraguay, which showed a well-organized defense, making Uruguay’s penetrations difficult and forcing errors.

In the second half, Paraguay B improved their offensive effectiveness, taking advantage of the spaces generated by the mobility of their players and executing quick counterattacks that extended the advantage. Despite Uruguay’s efforts to adjust their strategy and increase their defensive pressure, they were unable to reverse the score, consolidating the Paraguayan victory .

With this result, Paraguay B won the bronze medal in the South Central U14, while Uruguay finished sixth.

Brazil vs Paraguay A Men’s

Paraguay A defeated Brazil with a resounding 31-23 in a match where offense and defense played a crucial role. The scorers of the match, Alexander Velasquez and Julio Recalde, each scored 9 goals, while Andre Gorte stood out for Brazil with 7 goals. As the match progressed, Paraguay A’s mobility and teamwork allowed them to create space and maintain control of the game.

Although Brazil had flashes of good play, they could not match the effectiveness and intensity of the Paraguayan team, which consolidated its victory with a well-executed tactic and a firm defense. With this result, Paraguay A took second place in the tournament and Brazil fourth.
