Paraguay A took second place in the SCA U14 Boys’ Handball Championship. In the last match of the day the positions were defined. After defeating Brazil 31-23, Paraguay A was crowned runner-up in the SCA U14 Men’s Handball Championship.
A historic achievement for the Warriors, who had never before won a podium in this championship.
The first half started evenly, with Paraguay A being strong in defense. This generated mistakes in Brazil’s offense and ball stealing by the Guarani team.
As a result, the team led by Rodrigo Rojas was always up on the scoreboard.
In addition, at the end of the first half Mateo Giménez had a great performance under the 3 goal posts counteracting the attacks of the green and yellow team.
On the Brazilian side, Joao Cipriano had a very good first half, generating most of the dangerous chances for his team. The locals went to the break leading 18 to 10.
Second Half
Also Brazil came out with a great attitude in the second half, but once again the great defense of Paraguay A did not allow Eduardo Souza’s team to reduce the difference on the scoreboard.
This resulted in the number of exclusions for the Guarani team, although the Brazilians were unable to take advantage of having an extra player on the field.
Led by their captain, Julio Recalde, and Alexander Velázquez, the warriors were very effective in attack and won the match 31-23.
Besides the scorers of the game were Andre Gorte of Brazil with 7 and Paraguayans Julio Recalde and Alexander Velazquez with 9 goals each.
Finally, Brazil finished the tournament with 2 wins and 3 losses, while Paraguay A had 4 wins and only 1 loss against the champion, Argentina.
