Great triumph in Argentina’s debut in the SCA U16 Handball Championship

In its first presentation in the SCA U16 Women’s Handball, Argentina defeated the Peruvian team in a resounding manner and took a great victory 32 to 8. From the beginning, Argentina dominated the match. They maintained a very solid attack in contrast to the Peruvians who suffered mistakes in the offense. The team coached by Anthony Guerra was only able to score their first goal after 16 minutes of play. During the first half, the team led by Luciana Salvadó was effective in their shots. In addition, they were able to gather the opponent’s mark by quickly releasing the ball to find a free teammate ready to shoot at the goal. At the end of the first half, Argentina went to the break with a 15-3 lead.

With a great goal by captain Keyra Doy, Peru opened the scoring in the second half. The first minutes of the game were difficult for the Argentines due to the good defense of the rival for a few minutes, which caused the Albiceleste to have several erratic shots. However, the great difference obtained in the first half made it possible for them to stay always on top and away from the Peruvian danger. The last 10 minutes of the match were all for Argentina, which took advantage of the counterattack to continue increasing the score. The game ended 32 to 8.

The top scorers were Argentina’s Alma Tojo and Lou Genou with 6 goals each.

Lou Genoud, player of the Argentine National Team: “This was our first match and we got off to a great start. The truth is that in this first victory, it was very noticeable the way we treat each other and how we all get along. We feel very comfortable, the facilities in Paraguay are very good, the food, the beautiful courts and we are very comfortable”.

Shopia Martin Da Giau, player of the Peruvian National Team: “This match has been very intense, against a very strong team like Argentina. We have been training for a little over a month and we have had the opportunity to bring together all the departments of Peru. We have been able to form a team and consolidate our union and the great strength and friendship that we have as a team”.
