Brazil and Argentina finalists of the SCA U16 Handball! A high level, excitement and euphoria were experienced in the fourth day that determined the finalists and the definition of positions in the SCA U16 Handball.
Here is a summary of the fourth day of competitions at Asunción 2024.
SEMIFINALS. Brazil and Argentina finalists of the HSCA U16!
Argentina vs Uruguay female
In the first semifinal of the day, Argentina defeated Uruguay 29-16, standing out for its fast and effective play.
The top scorer of the match was Antonella Quiroz, with 6 goals, who took advantage of the spaces in the Uruguayan defense.
The team coached by Luciana Salvado had a solid defense that hindered the Charrúa attack throughout the game, while in attack they opted for quick combinations and penetration shots.
Uruguay, despite the efforts of Guillermina Vidal and Julieta Villar, who scored 5 goals each, failed to adjust their defense in time.
With this victory, Argentina improves on last year’s performance and prepares to face Brazil in the final for the title.

Brazil vs Uruguay male
In the first men’s semifinal of the SCA U16 Handball, Brazil beat Uruguay 20-18 in an intense match.
Uruguay’s Felipe Renom opened the scoring, raising hopes of eliminating the defending champions, but the Charrúas were unable to contain Eduardo Rodrigues, who shone in the first half.
Despite an improvement in Uruguay’s defense in the second half, it was Rodrigues who secured the victory for Brazil by scoring a crucial goal a minute from time.
With 9 goals, Rodrigues was the top scorer of the match, while Matteo Punzo scored 5 for Uruguay. With this result, Brazil advances to the final in search of the title and Uruguay will go for third place.

Argentina vs Chile male
Argentina scored a thrilling victory over Chile 28-27 in the second men’s semifinal of the SCA U16 Handball U16. After a quick start with an Argentine goal by Nicolas Ladelfa, Chile responded immediately, setting the tone for a close match.
Argentina held a slight lead during the first half, boosted by the outstanding performance of goalkeeper Francisco Perez.
In the final moments, a penalty kick for Chile could have tied the game, but Nehuen Mazzaferri made a key save to secure the win for the Albiceleste.
Cristobal Silva and Gaspar Serrano were the scorers of the match, with 7 goals each, while Nicolas Ladelfa scored 6 for Argentina.
Thus, the Albiceleste team is preparing to seek the title and improve on its runner-up finish from the previous year, while Chile is going for the bronze medal against Uruguay.

Brazil vs Paraguay A female
Brazil beat Paraguay 23-18 in the second women’s semifinal. After a complicated start, where both goalkeepers made good saves, Viomario Da Silva’s team managed to open the scoring after 6 minutes.
Taking advantage of Paraguay’s mistakes, the Verdeamarelos stretched their lead, although Paraguay improved towards the end of the first half, closing the gap to just two goals.
In the second half, Brazil, led by goalkeeper Aylla Rocha, regained control of the game and was more effective in its shots.
Isabella Oliveira and Ana Paula Jara were the top scorers of the match, each with 6 goals. Brazil will defend its title in the final, while Paraguay will seek the bronze against Uruguay.

DEFINITIONS 5TH-8TH PLACE
Peru vs Chile female
Chile defeated Peru 20-12 in a very evenly matched start, which ended with a 7-8 first half in favor of the Chileans.
In the second half, the team coached by Javier Cardenas improved their effectiveness in attack and strengthened their defense, extending their lead.
Keyra Doy of Peru was the top scorer of the match with 6 goals, while Catalina González, Agustina Albornoz and Estefanía Aravena stood out for Chile with 3 goals each.
With this victory, Chile will face Paraguay B on the last day of competition for fifth place.

Paraguay A vs Paraguay B male
Paraguay A defeated Paraguay B 32-22 in a match where Saul Salinas of Paraguay B was the top scorer with 6 goals, followed by Dariel de Leon, who scored 5 for Paraguay A.
After an even start, the “Albirroja” found their rhythm after the first 8 minutes, closing the first half with a solid 15-8. In the second half, they continued to dominate the game by taking advantage of their wingers. With this victory, Paraguay A is preparing to compete for fifth place.

Peru vs Paraguay B female
Peru lost to Paraguay B 30-17 in their match to define who would go for the fifth place, after losing to Chile in the morning.
Abigail Caceres and Veronica Recalde stood out as scorers with 5 goals each, while Keyra Doy led the Peruvian attack with 4 goals.
With this victory, Paraguay B will face Chile for fifth place in the tournament, while Peru concludes its participation in seventh place in the SCA U16 Handball.

Paraguay B vs Peru male
In an exciting closing of the day, Paraguay B, after losing in the morning, had to face Peru to define who would fight for the fifth place. The locals beat Peru 30-28.
The match was very close, with the first half ending 15-14 in favor of Paraguay B.
Peru took the lead after consolidating its defense and being more effective on the counterattack, but could not maintain its lead, and Paraguay B regained the advantage.
Santiago Casanova was the game’s top scorer with 9 goals, while Peter Aguilera and Mathias Zárate contributed 6 goals each for Paraguay B.
With this result, Paraguay B will face Paraguay A for fifth place, while Peru concludes its participation in seventh place.
