The Cub Scouts lost to Angola at the World Junior Championship in China

After a dramatic win over Nigeria in the final seconds, the Cub Scouts lost 21-32 to Angola in their second match in group l of the President’s Cup at the U18 Women’s World Cup being held in China.

In a solid first half, the team led by José Tham managed to contain the African team, thanks to a well-organized defense that limited Angola’s attacking options. This allowed the teams to go into halftime with only a two-goal deficit on the scoreboard, 9-11 in favor of Angola. In the second half they could not sustain the pace. Mistakes and lack of concentration allowed Angola to extend the lead considerably. Finally, the Chileans lost to Angola 21-32 in their second match of Group I of the President’s Cup. Catalina Gonzalez was the top scorer with 4 goals, while Angola showed a remarkable efficiency, with a 65% efficiency in their shots. Check out the match stats! Chile vs Angola With this result, Chile is positioned in fourth place in the President’s Cup with one win and two losses and will play the qualification matches from 29th to 32nd place.

Chile’s road to the World Cup in China

In Group A, Chile got off to a difficult start. In their first game, they were outplayed by Sweden with a resounding 17-37 win. Later, in a tighter match, they lost to Serbia 24-30. They closed the group stage with a 23-35 loss to Austria. These results placed the Chilean team in fourth place in their group, taking them to the President’s Cup, where they are looking to improve their final position in the tournament. The first match in the President’s Cup was positive. The team led by José Tham won its first victory of the tournament in a thrilling match against Nigeria. Chile won 23-22, with a decisive goal by Anaís Larenas in the last seconds of the game and was also the top scorer of the match with 7 goals.
