Chile closes its participation in the World Youth Championship with a victory

The team led by José Tham ended its participation in the U18 Women’s World Championship with a victory over Guinea. The Chileans won by 19-18. against the Africans and reached 29th place in the tournament, their third victory.

The Lobitas took the field in search of their third victory and to close the world championship in 29th place. With an imprecise start, the Chileans kept the African team at bay, who during the first 20 minutes dominated the rhythm of the match, capitalizing on their quick counterattacks to reach an advantage of up to four goals. However, Chile did not stop looking for spaces and began to be more effective in their shots, shortening Guinea’s lead. In the 28th minute, Noelia Carrasco managed to score the tying goal, closing the first half 11-11.

The second half started with both teams evenly matched for the first 15 minutes, but Chile managed to take the lead and maintain a three-goal advantage. Anais Larenas was determinant in the Chilean triumph, scoring 5 goals with an effectiveness of 56% and being elected the MVP of the match. Finally, Chile won 19-18, obtaining the 29th place in the tournament and ending its participation with a balance of 4 defeats and 3 victories.
