The Argentine national team faced France and lost by 21-28 in the 4th date of group B. The Gladiators without their star player, Diego Simonet, did not advance from the round and will close their participation in these Olympic Games against Egypt on August 4. Both teams had to win to dream of qualifying for the quarterfinals.
France started the match being effective in attack and making the difference from the goal.
After 10 minutes of play, the Argentinean coach, Guillermo Milano, had already used his 2 time-outs and the French goalkeeper, Vincent Gerard, was undefeated.
After 11 minutes, Los Gladiadores scored their first goal of the match, scored by Federico Fernandez, putting the game 1-7 in favor of the locals.
From this point on, Argentina started to find more play and the momentum they needed to get into the match – however, France did not let up and went to halftime 8-15 down.
The second half was a little better for the Albiceleste.
In the second half, France slowed down and the South Americans were able to take advantage of this to close the gap.
With a great performance of the Argentinean scorer James Parker (7), the Albiceleste scored a 5:0 partial after 40 minutes, which allowed them to get within 3 goals of their rival.
In the last 10 minutes of the game, the locals showed their power again, so Argentina lost 28-21, and did not advance from the round. The Gladiators will be looking for their first victory to bid farewell to Paris in the best possible way, when they face Egypt in the fifth and last date of Group B. It will be next August 4 at 6am (Argentina time).

The team was able to recover, we ended with the same amount of shots on goal as France.
For us, to generate so much handball and to be able to shoot so many free shots was a goal we had and we achieved it. Then we made their goalkeeper a star and against that there is nothing to do because in attack we were good, in defense we were good, to let France down by 30 goals is almost a miracle for us”.

Federico Pizarro:“It is a problem that we have been having for a long time, the problem of the definition, it is even more noticeable when you are at the highest level.
I think Argentina is still competing, but the ceiling is a bit high.
Obviously we try to leave everything inside, everyone who enters really tries their best, but sometimes it’s not enough, they are better than us and it’s okay to say so” Photo: IHFPorRocío Mariel García Sigüenza
