Preliminary Round of the Junior Women’s World Cup in North Macedonia is over

The first half of the 24th Junior Women’s World Championship being played in North Macedonia has ended. Argentina, Brazil and Chile to play for the President’s Cup this Saturday, Argentina faces China Taipei and Brazil plays against Chile.

The teams representing South and Central America competed at the highest level during the first four days of the tournament. They failed to qualify for the final rounds and will compete in the President’s Cup and will try to finish in the best position.

The Brazilian team faced Romania in the first round, losing 25-26 to one of the favorites to win the title. Then it was the turn to play against the Netherlands, where the European team’s superiority was remarkable and they won 32-19. In the last match of the group stage, the green and yellow team achieved its first victory 30-22 against Iran.

Argentina lost in the debut against Hungary by 39-21, then in the second match with goalkeeper Florencia Carrasco as the outstanding figure, Argentina fought until the end, but lost 33-31 to South Korea. On the third day, they won their first victory, defeating Mexico 41-16.

Chile, on the other hand, failed to win any of its matches in the World Championship. They lost 16-26 to Egypt, 47-11 to Switzerland and 28-46 to Tunisia.

PRESIDENT’S CUP
Brazil and Chile are in Group 1 along with Iran and Tunisia. The Brazilian team starts with 2 points and is in second place on goal difference, while the Chilean team has 0 points and is in fourth place. Argentina shares Group 2 with Japan, Chinese Taipei and Mexico. La Garrita is leading the group with 2 points.

This Saturday, June 23, Argentina will play against China Taipei in search of its second victory, as will Brazil against Chile, the latter looking for its first victory.
