The eleventh edition of the Beach Handball World Championship held in China came to an end. The participation of the men’s national teams of Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay closed their participation in the tournament that crowned Croatia with the gold medal, Denmark with the silver medal and Portugal with the bronze medal.
The Uruguayan national team was among the 10 best in the world. In a dramatic encounter, they won 2-1 (22:23, 18:16, SO 9:8) in what was the last game to take ninth place in the tournament.
Argentina, after making it to the quarterfinals and advancing, faced Hungary. They struggled during the first set, but the team coached by Sebastián Ferraro, lost 17-22. In the second, they managed to take control of the game and be more effective in attack, winning 21-18, forcing the game to shoot out. In the penalty shootout, the Europeans were superior and won 6-8, thus placing Argentina in eighth place in the ranking.
Later, Brazil faced Spain and had to win to take fifth place. The first set slipped out of the hands of Antonio Guerra’s team, losing 26-27. In the second, the strength and agility that characterizes the Brazilian players was paramount to take the lead and force the match to shoot out. However, the green and yellow team was unable to defeat the European giants and lost 8-10, the final score was 2-1 (27:26, 18:20, SO 10:8) and Brazil closed in sixth place in the championship.
