Nacional defeated Scuola Italiana and qualified to the semifinals in the last match of the day at the SCA Club Handball in San José.
A draw was not a good option for both teams, Nacional needed to win to secure a place in the semifinals and Scuola needed a good goal difference.
Qualification to semis
The team coached by Silvio Rodrigues Da Silva started off strong in the first half, but Scuola Italiana quickly managed to tie the match.
The Brazilian team was able to take advantage of their opponents’ mistakes and quickly went on the attack. In addition, Eduarda Bavaresco, the goalkeeper, kept the difference in the scoreboard.
The first half ended 10-9 in favor of Nacional.
In the second half Nacional pressed the accelerator even harder to close the match 26-19 and qualify for the semifinals, the MVP of the match was Nacional’s goalkeeper, Eduarda Bavaresco.
