Liceo Nacional de Maipú took the points against MET in the SCA Handball Clubs’ Championship

In the third day of the South Central Men’s Club Championship, Liceo Nacional de Maipú defeated MET in an exciting Chilean classic that was defined in the final minutes. The team led by Rodrigo Guzmán imposed their game and won 32-28.

Familiar rivals, Met and Liceo Nacional de Maipú, both Chilean teams, were looking for the last points of the group stage. In the first minutes of the match, the teams played a very even game with a constant exchange of goals. However, Maipú began to find spaces in MET’s defense and through a great intensity in their counter-attack they took a slight advantage. The great performance of Arián Delgado, with 5 goals in the first half, pushed Liceo Nacional to extend its dominance on the scoreboard. The teams went to the break 16-13 in favor of Rodrigo Guzmán’s team.

In the second half, a series of mistakes on the part of Liceo Nacional De Maipú allowed MET to equalize on the scoreboard and resume its rhythm of play. The game went goal for goal, and Pablo Vicencio’s men consolidated their defensive line to take the lead in the final stretch of the match. However, the great performance of goalkeeper Matias Canton, helped to make Liceo Nacional managed to score in the final minutes, winning the game 32-28. The MVP of the match was Arián Delgado Aravena of Liceo Nacional de Maipú .
