The city of Maricá in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil hosts the Third edition of Global Tour in South America. A total of 40 matches will take place in Brazilian arenas.
The tournament will feature the participation of six teams representing four continents. The Men’s and Women’s Tournament will have 20 matches per branch. The host Brazil, along with Argentina, the United States of America and Uruguay, will present teams in both branches, with the addition of Germany and Qatar in the men’s event and Portugal, plus Puerto Rico in the women’s event.
Dispute system:
There will be six teams in each competition that will be all against all in three days, Wednesday the 8th, Thursday the 9th and Saturday the 11th of May. The 10th will be a day of rest.
The 5/6 qualifying matches and semi-finals will be played on Saturday night. On Sunday the 12th the third places and the final.
About the IHF Beach Handball World Tour
The Global Tour was launched at the 2022 IHF Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball World Championships in Greece and debuted in Gdansk, Poland. The champion in men was Croatia and Spain in women. Four teams (Croatia, Germany, Poland and Spain) participated in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
The 2023 IHF Beach Handball World Tour visited Brazil, Tunisia, Poland and closed in Doha, Qatar. The men’s champion was Qatar and Brazil in women.
Overall, a total of 28 teams from 19 countries competed in the 2023 Global Tour: Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, Denmark, Poland, Tunisia and the United States (men’s and women’s teams), Morocco, Portugal, Qatar, Togo and Uruguay (men only) and Germany, Kenya, Mali, Mexico and the People’s Republic of China (women).
