San Fernando defeated River Plate 33-25 in the SCA Handball Clubs that takes place in Taubaté. The team coached by Elio Fernandez took the victory.
First half
Juan Ignacio Noto’s goal opened the account for the current champions, demonstrating that they would go all out for the second championship.
The good defense of Elio Rubén Fernández’s team, together with an effective counterattack, gave them the advantage in the first minutes of the game.
However, throughout the first half the rival found spaces in San Fernando’s solid defense and managed to close the gap on the scoreboard with a partial 16-11.
The complement
In the second half, River’s fast starts complicated San Fernando’s defense, but a series of saves by their goalkeeper, Fabio Sozzi Vaz, prevented Los Millonarios from getting closer to the scoreboard.
Thanks to these defensive interventions, the champions launched quick counterattacks that ended in goals, extending their lead in the game.
In the end, San Fernando showed why it has the title of champion and beat River Plate 33-25.
The MVP of the match was Francisco Soto of San Fernando.
