From June 18 to 23, the 11th World Beach Handball Championship, women’s and men’s, will be played in Pingtan, People’s Republic of China.
The matches will be played at the “Pingtan International Beach Sports Base”, in Long Wangtou Ocean Park on Pingtan Island. The draw began with the women’s branch and the groups were formed as follows:
Brazil, which won the titles in 2006, 2012 and 2014, was included in Group D and will compete with the last two champion teams, Greece in 2018 and Germany in 2022.
In the men’s branch, China chose Group B, which also includes Brazil, Spain and Tunisia. Croatia, current world champion, was included in Group C, along with Puerto Rico, Portugal and Argentina. Uruguay shares Group D with Germany, Qatar and the United States. The groups were formed as follows:
Competition mode:
The Tournament has 16 teams for each branch, divided into four groups of four teams each. The top three teams in each group (12 in total) advance to two main round groups of six teams each, and the top four in each group advance to the quarterfinals, then semi-finals, bronze medal, qualification and final .
The bottom team in each of the four preliminary groups will advance to the consolation round.
