In the third match of the first day, in the men’s category of the SCA Beach Handball Tournament, the locals lost to the current champion: Brazil. The match ended with a resounding victory for the Verdeamarela by 2 sets to 0, with partial scores of 24-12 and 14-4.
The tournament, which takes place from April 10 to 13, puts the subcontinental title at stake and also grants three places for the next World Cup to be held in China in June of this year.
A solid Brazil prevailed from the beginning, their pace of play against the hosts who failed to break through the great Brazilian defense, ending the first set 24-12.
Already in the second set, the Guaraní team noticeably improved its defense and with great performances by its goalkeeper Ever Paris, it ensured that Brazil did not expand its lead on the scoreboard. However, the Brazilians’ offensive side was superior, finishing the second set 14-4. Strong start for the Verdeamarela, who seeks to defend her champion title.
In addition to Brazil’s victory, during the morning shift Uruguay defeated Chile 2-0 and Argentina beat Peru 2 sets to 0.
