Chile adds its first victory in the Beach HSCA. During the morning shift in day 2 of the Championship that takes place in Asuncion, the Chileans took the game against Paraguay.
The Paraguayans had just lost to Brazil and Argentina, while Chile lost to Uruguay and Brazil. The Chileans won the match by 2-0.
First set
A dramatic first set was played at the Olympic Park of Asuncion, under a close match with very even levels, the Chilean team took the set 13:12 just by details.
Second set
In front of their home crowd, Paraguay started a brilliant second set that kept them in the lead until at least the first 5 minutes with a 4 goal difference. But, after half of the minutes the Chileans managed to filter the defense of the locals and gradually take the lead. The great scoring efficiency of Mauro Rosso with 14 goals helped Chile to close the set 22:18 winning the match 2-0 and taking the two points.

After this result, Paraguay is obliged to beat Uruguay to continue with the illusion of qualifying for the World Cup. Chile, meanwhile, must defeat Peru to position itself fourth in the standings and aspire to third place in the competition. “It was an intense and complicated match. I think our team was superior in terms of attitude and that allowed us to achieve the first victory of the tournament.”
Oscar Vairoleto, player of the Paraguayan national team:
“It was a key match for us, to aspire to third and fourth place. We were not able to face a very tough opponent like Chile, we were not able to score the goals we needed in attack”.
