Argentina beat Brazil in the South American classic in the 3rd edition of Beach Handball SCA, Asuncion 2024. It was 2-1 in favor of the Kamikazes.
Is Argentina and Brazil were undefeated, which generated more expectations in a match full of emotions. Victory went to the Albiceleste by means of the Shoot Out.
Agustina Mirota was the top scorer for Kamikaze with 14 goals, whilst Carolina Militao scored 12 for the Verdeamarela.
First set
The first set started evenly as expected, but in the last 3 minutes Argentina with their defensive recoveries and the great performance of goalkeeper Florencia Bericio managed to win 17:12.
Second set
In second set unfolded in much the same way as the first, but Brazil closed it out, capitalising on some of their opponents’ handling errors. The score was 17–12 in favour of the Brazilians.
Definition
Finally, it all came down to a shoot-out, where the scores remained level after the first set of five penalties.
Next shootout, Sofia Dragonetti waited until the end for Brazil’s shooter and Florencia Bericio prevented her from scoring.
Agustina Mirota was able to convert and the Argentine team won 7:6.

“Very happy for the qualification to the World Cup, we have been working for a long time for this tournament and to be able to qualify. We are happy, but there is still one more step to go. We are focused on that and happy for today’s victory”.
Carolina Pires, player of the Brazilian National Team:
“Just played a hard-fought game against Argentina, we knew it was going to be like that. Tomorrow we play the final against them and we are going to concentrate to play a better game than today”.
