Argentina and Brazil now know their rivals for Paris 2024. On Tuesday 16 April, the draw was held for the teams that have qualified for the Olympic Games.

Draw was conducted by two-time Olympic champion and France’s all-time leading scorer, Jérôme Fernandez, and Rio 2016 silver medallist, Siraba Dembelé.

The 12 teams in each category were divided into two groups, with the top four from each group advancing to the next round.

Matches will be held at South Paris Arena 6 from 27 July to 4 August, and the final rounds will take place from 6 to 11 August at Pierre Mauroy Stadium.

Ceremony

The Olympic torch lighting ceremony was also held in Athens, Greece. The torch will travel around the country for 11 days and then cross over to Marseille, France, on the historic sailing ship ‘Belem’.

Flame symbolises peace and links the Modern Games with those of Antiquity.

Torch relay includes 38 stages in France before reaching the opening ceremony on 26 July, which will mark the start of the most important sporting competition, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
