Dramatic tie at La Casa del Handball Argentino under the third day of competition of the South Central American tournament in Buenos Aires.
It was a match that kept the presiding public in suspense until the last second and ended with a tie at 27 points.
Tied
Argentina went to the break with a two-goal lead. But, in the second half, La Roja complicated the locals, stretching the score to 3 goals in their favor.
In the final stretch, the Gladiators managed to come back and took a 27-26 lead. However, with only 10 seconds left in the game, the Chileans tied the score.
After the draw, Daniel Ayala, player of the Chilean national team declared: “It was an incredible atmosphere, it is very nice to play on this field. And, happily, with a bitter taste but happy with the result”.
Paraguay won the classic
The other upset came at the beginning of the day, the Paraguayan team defeated its classic rival and defeated Uruguay 26-24.
It had been some 30 years since the Guaraníes had been able to beat the Charrúas, but this time their luck changed. Both the coaching staff and the players stated that since the beginning of their preseason they had set the goal of winning against Uruguay.
Brazil continues to add
Brazil beat Costa Rica 47-11, and with this result they are at the top of the table with 6 points, guaranteeing their participation in the World Cup.
Argentina and Chile remain in second place, both with 5 units, while Paraguay has 2.

Jorge Duarte, player of the Paraguayan national team: “We have been analyzing the match since practice, Uruguay was the objective and we achieved it. We still have the other match where we can finish fourth if we set our minds to it”.
Daniel Ayala, player of the Chilean national team: “From Santiago we prepared a lot to improve our tactics and defend. We are still proud of this draw, we wanted to win, but we are quite happy with the draw”.
Leonel Maciel, goalkeeper of the Argentine national team: “We have to make an analysis among ourselves, luckily the draw may not hurt the way in this championship, obviously we are not happy with how we played.”
