Last day of Poland Sweden 2023 under Hugo Valdebenito’s eyes

Throughout January, Hugo Valdebenito enjoyed the best handball in the world. The historic “profe” of the Chilean club Unión Santiago Balonmano -USAB- traveled to Sweden to see, analyze and enjoy the meetings of the 24th edition of the Adult Men’s World Cup.

Accompanied by Wladimir Oyarzún and Ellen Forsberg, Prof Hugo arrived at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, where the last two matches of the tournament that defined the podium of Poland Sweden 2023 were played.

The match that would define the entrance to the podium was that of Sweden vs Spain and this was the analysis of the teacher:

A brilliant start to the first half by the home team with excellent collective offensive and defensive tactics that allow him to leave with a four-goal advantage at halftime. Spain fails to connect in attack and its defense lacks effectiveness. However, in the second half, Jordi Rivera, DT of Spain, changes his defensive approach of a 6:0 adjustment and passes to a deep 5:1 that allows him to shorten in less than 7 minutes a partial of 5 goals, and thus move to the front, forcing Sweden to ask for a Team Time-Out to give tip and solutions to your attack especially.

In addition to this positive development of Spain, one of its players stands out: Alex Dujshebaev. The side is unstoppable is his progressions and his game of 1 against 1, which was a good gain in both defense and attack. The handling of each attack allowed Spain to be always in the front and win comfortably by a good difference to close and celebrate their participation with joy”.

An hour after the bronze match came the long-awaited moment: the final for the gold medal and the title of the best in the world.

France and Denmark were in charge of closing this tournament, where the big favorite were the Vikings who were looking for their third title.

A start from start to finish with an advantage for Denmark allows him to advance quickly on the scoreboard and distance himself by 2 to 3 goals, managing to keep him throughout the match. Intense process that made vibrate the immense Danish bar, which joined the Swedes, who also encouraged their selection.

Denmark shines with an exquisite game led by the experience and tremendous leadership ability of Mikkel Hansen. He knows how to handle very well the times and systematic of attack in a game of continuity-depth and amplitude very efficient and explosive coupled with an anticipative defense that manages to contain to a great extent his front line, all this coupled with the great work of his star goalkeeper, Nickas Landin.

Only brief personal intentions of the French front line allowed to stay in party.

A second explosive time with constant player rotation allowed Denmark to go 4-5 goals along with their quick games (against goal) and counterattacks from their first and second waves. The scoreboard ended with the gold medal for the Danes and a clear display of modern and collective play from a large squad.
