Between January 25 and 29, the city of Recife, Brazil, will host the second edition of the South and Central American Handball Championship organized by CoSCABal. Eight teams from America will compete in the contest and will award four places for the next IHF World Cup Sweden – Poland 2023.
The president of the Confederation, Marcel Mancilla, assured that everything is already underway for the contest and that they seek to improve what was the last edition of Maringá 2020, especially in terms of being a sporting event: “We are strongly concerned about the spectators and handball fans, although the main thing is always the players ”.
With the completion of Recife, COSCABAL will start the new alliance with Fanatiz, the streaming platform focused on sports and that has a wide reach worldwide, where all the matches of the tournament will be broadcast. The goal is for “South and Central American handball to reach everywhere.”
Regarding the general objectives of the tournament, Marcel Mancilla assured that one of the objectives of Recife 2022 is to increase the level of play and the friction between the more and less experienced teams, since the “technical progress of our countries , allow us to continue advancing technically in South and Central America ”.
For this reason, one of the novelties of the tournament is the participation of the Central American champion, Costa Rica, who will play this qualifying contest for the first time.
In this way, Recife 2022 is being prepared, an event that is getting closer and closer and where the participating teams will leave everything on the field to become the best in America.
