Just a few days ago, the 25th edition of the Women’s Handball World Cup, which was hosted by Spain, was concluded. As is customary, the European teams stood out in the international competition, with Norway (1st), France (2nd) and Denmark (3rd) being the countries that were on the podium.
However, the South American teams also stood out, especially the Brazilian team, which finished in sixth place in the world rankings, after not being able to continue advancing in the quarterfinal stage, after losing 25-30 against Denmark.
Thanks to this high level of performance, the International Handball Federation (IHF) reported that for the next Women’s Handball World Cup, to be played in 2023 in Norway, Sweden and Denmark, the South and Central American Handball Region will lead one of the eight groups that the tournament will have.
This position will be defined after the American women’s qualifying tournament, which will take place next year, and the team that is crowned champion of the contest will be the group leader in the next Women’s World Cup.
Undoubtedly, this news confirms the high level that handball is developing in our continent, and we hope that in the coming years, the results of the world circuits will continue to improve.
