Brazil wins and closes its participation of Kumamoto in 17th place

Brazil closed its participation in the 24th World Women’s Handball Championship in Kumamoto, Japan with a 22-18 victory over Senegal taking 17th place and improving its position in the last tournament in 2017 (18th).

The Brazilian team won the last three games in the competition. Having placed fifth in the group stage, he played from 17th to 20th place.

Scoring for Brazil: Alexandra Nascimento (4 goals); Paula Bruna, Larissa Araújo, Adriana de Castro, Mariana Costa (3 goals); Samara Vieira and Eduarda Amorim (2 goals); Tamires Araújo and Ana Paula Rodrigues (1 goal).

The World Cup in Kumamoto, Japan was played as follows: main round composed of 24 teams divided into four groups of six for the qualifying phase. The first three in each group advance to the next phase and take the points obtained in the matches played between qualifiers. They were then divided into two groups of six teams each, with the top two from each advancing to the semifinals.

The teams that do not qualify play the President’s Cup, which establishes the positions from 13th.
