The 2019 World Beach Games ended and Brazil once again took two podiums, maintaining hegemony since 2006 in all the competitions in which they participated. The men’s team won the fourth championship with the gold medal, while the women’s team remained on the podium, with the bronze medal.
The men’s team beat Oman and the United States 2-0, while the women also defeated Argentina and the Americans 2-0. In the second round, the women’s team maintained two more victories, this time against Tunisia and Hungary; and the men suffered their only defeat with Denmark 2-0 but managed to recover against Australia winning 2-0.
In the last round of the group stage, the women’s team had already qualified for the quarterfinals, beating Denmark and taking first place in the group. The men beat Sweden 2-0 and also secured a place in the quarterfinals.
The teams moved on to the knockout phase, in search of the podiums they obtained in 2017 in Poland, playing three games, until the disputes for gold for the men’s team and bronze for the women’s team. In the quarterfinals they won in both branches: Brazil 2-1 Croatia (men) and Brazil 2-0 Poland (women).
The men’s team achieved two more victories, it was in the semifinals 2-1 against Qatar and Spain in the final. While the women’s team suffered its only defeat in the semifinals, 2-1 with Denmark, and played the match for third place, beating Vietnam 2-0 for the bronze medal.
