Brazil wins bronze in Lima 2019. Brazil and Mexico played for the bronze medal that Brazil claimed at the Pan American Games.
A thrilling match
There was one particular twist during the match: the partial scores in both first halves were similar, 16-10. Brazilians and Mexicans had already faced each other in the first round of the tournament.
First, in the debut match for both teams, Brazil claimed its first victory, winning 33-23.
Then came another clash for the bronze medal; Oswaldo Maestro opened the scoring for Brazil, and captain Thiagus Petrus converted to extend the lead.
During the first 20 minutes, the Brazilians led by 3 goals, going into the break with a 6-point lead.
Second Half
In the second half, center Rogério Moraes, assisted by guard Thiago Ponciano, scored the 17th goal. With one minute remaining, Rogério Moraes closed the scoring for Brazil 32-20, defeating the Mexicans twice.
With this result, Brazil secured third place on the podium with the bronze medal.
