The Brazilian Women’s National Team won the Pan American title after beating Argentina 21-30 at the Sports Village of the National Sports Village (VIDENA) in Lima, Peru. Brazil managed to maintain American hegemony and secure a continental quota for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The initial formation of the green and yellow was with goalkeeper Barbara Arenhart, wingers Larissa Araújo and Mariana Costa, pivot Tamires Araújo and setters Ana Paula Rodrigues, Eduarda Amorim and Deonise Fachinello.In the first minute of the game, Duda opened the scoring for Brazil. The coach, Jorge Dueñas, called his first timeout at 16′ when the Argentines went ahead by 2 goals 8-6.The Brazilian team changes the goalkeeper and Renata Arruda enters, while Dueñas requests time out with the score, 11-09 in favor of the Argentines. With 28 seconds left in the game, left back Larissa Araújo equalized the first half and ended with a partial score of 12-12. At the beginning of the second half, Brazil stretches the distance with 4 consecutive goals. With 10 minutes left in the match, Brazil manages to maintain a six-goal lead and control the game better by rotating the ball at its own pace. In the last minute, the score was 19-29 in favor of Brazil. The match ended 21-30 and crowned Brazil with the gold medal. Winger Adriana de Castro was the top scorer with 27 goals in 5 games.
